Rain is finally back in earnest here in the Lamorinda area. Sure, we had a little sprinkling earlier in the season. But this is the first bigger Fall storm to make its way through the East Bay.
We won’t be getting as much rain as Marin and others parts of the Bay Area, but it will still be a bigger rain event compared to the always-rainless Summer.
That’s probably not great news for the organizers of some local festivals. But it’s great in terms of starting to take a dent out of the ongoing drought. Of course, it’s going to take a lot of storms like this to end the drought. But every little bit helps.
According to the National Weather Service, today’s weather in Lamorinda is looking pretty wet, with rain and thunderstorms expected throughout the day. The high will be around 74, and there will be a strong east southeast wind blowing at 8 to 13 mph, with gusts up to 25 mph.
There’s a 90% chance of precipitation, with new rainfall amounts between a quarter and a half inch possible.
Tonight, the rain is expected to continue, and there may even be a thunderstorm or two. The low will be around 61, and the wind will be light south southeast at 5 to 9 mph.
However, gusts could reach 22 mph. There’s still a 90% chance of precipitation, with new rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter inch possible. Higher amounts are possible in thunderstorms, so be sure to stay safe if one is headed your way!
