Road Flooding in Walnut Creek Amid Heavy Rains

Heavy rains have continued here in the bay area, and specifically in the East Bay as part of a pattern of atmospheric rivers that have been pounding the region since December.

The Bay Area Telegraph was on location this morning in Lafayette, California, where we saw heavy rains during the morning commute. We also observed localized road flooding in Walnut Creek, California in the afternoon.

Thankfully, despite the heavy rains, we haven’t seen the kinds of powerful winds that arrived during the storm last week. For that reason, there have been fewer downed trees, and power outages been during the previous storm.

Even so, conditions are slippery and visibility is poor. Flooding on roads creates localized hazards, especially during the evening rush-hour.

As the rains continue into the evening, be prepared for a challenging, drive home if you’re coming back to the East Bay from the city.
