This Bay Area Cake Was Practically Made for Instagram

Plenty of people make a habit of photographing their food to post to Instagram. Elaborate cocktails, interesting treats, exotic ice cream—all these things are natural fodder for Instagram photos.

Sometimes, though, you happen upon a treat that feels so tailor-made for social media that not sharing would just be wrong.

I recently discovered such a treat at the newly-opened Paris Baguette Cafe in Pleasant Hill, California: a delicate and elaborate layer cake in every shade of the rainbow.

I can’t imagine the amount of work that goes into making this thing. The cake consists of six different layers, each of which is a different, vibrant color.

The whole thing is frosted with a light, whipped cream frosting. The cake is as delicious as it is lovely to look at. I swear each layer tastes different, but that might just be the power of suggestion.

Either way, I knew I needed to get one of these rainbow cakes. Paris Baguette offers the cake by the slice, or you can buy a whole one for a party.

One cool aspect is that the outside of the cake is fairly nondescript. Imagine the delight that a child would experience when you cut into the cake and reveal a stunning rainbow!

Check out Paris Baguette for this tasty, and imminently Instagram-friendly, treat.
