The Golden Gate Bridge is one of the most famous and recognizable landmarks in the world

Many people don't  know that this iconic bridge was originally going to be a totally different color: yellow and black!

Why the bumblebee color scheme? The US Navy wanted the bridge painted these colors to make it more visible to ships.

Luckily, Irving Morrow, the bridge's architect, happened to see pieces of the bridge painted in a bright red-orange color

Morrow fought to make that color, called International Orange, the official color of the bridge. He won!
