Two Suspects Arrested After Reported Carjacking and Armed Robbery Spree That Ended in Walnut Creek

Walnut Creek police say a pair of Oakland residents are facing a long list of felony charges after an armed crime spree that began with a stolen work truck and ended with an arrest across from Trader Joe’s.

According to the Walnut Creek Police Department, the incident started on October 20, 2025 at about 2:20 pm, when a victim called dispatch to report that his work vehicle had just been stolen. The suspects were described as driving a gray Dodge Challenger.

A short time later, officers received a report of an armed carjacking at 1805 Ygnacio Valley Blvd, involving the same vehicle and matching suspect descriptions. At that point, no one had been taken into custody.

Linked to Three Other Armed Robberies

Investigators soon learned that the same suspects were believed to be responsible for three additional armed robberies in other East Bay cities: Pittsburg, Antioch and El Sobrante.

With help from multiple law enforcement partners — including Antioch Police, Pittsburg Police, the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the Oakland Police Department — officers were able to track down the suspects and take them into custody. A photo shared by WCPD shows officers detaining two people near a street corner with overhead power lines and multistory buildings in the background.

Two Oakland Residents Charged

Police identified the suspects as 21-year-old Julio Villalobos of Oakland and 23-year-old Britney Zuniga, also of Oakland.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office has filed 11 felony counts against Villalobos and 7 felony counts against Zuniga, according to Walnut Creek police. The charges stem from the reported armed carjacking in Walnut Creek as well as the series of armed robberies in Pittsburg, Antioch and El Sobrante.

WCPD thanked its partner agencies for helping bring the case to a close and for assisting with the safe arrest of the suspects.

We will update this story as additional information becomes available, including court dates and charging details.
