“This Hurts”; Lottie’s Creamery in Danville Broken Into, With Shattered Glass Everywhere

DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA – One of our favorite creameries in Danville, Lottie’s, has sadly been broken into and burglarized overnight, according to a Facebook post by the owners.

In a heartfelt post on the shop’s official Facebook page, the owner told “Danville friends and neighbors” that the beloved downtown ice cream spot “was broken into last night” and that the burglars shattered the glass on the front door to get inside. The message described the incident as heartbreaking and thanked the community for its support as staff began the cleanup and repair process.

It reads:

“Dear Danville friends and neighbors,

I’m heartbroken to share that our shop was broken into last night. The burglars smashed the front door window, vandalized the store, and took our cash register, weekend deposits, and some equipment we rely on every day to serve you.

We’re a small, family-run business, and this hurts, not just financially but because this is the place where we’ve built so many relationships with all of you over the years.

We’re working with the Danville Police and doing everything we can to reopen as quickly as possible. Please keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Let’s keep safe this Holidays Season.

If you feel moved to support us right now, the biggest help is simply coming by when we reopen, shopping with us, spreading the word, or even just sending a kind message. Your loyalty and encouragement mean more than you know.

Thank you for being the kind of community that looks out for each other. We’ll reopen today at 1pm, stronger because of you.

With gratitude,

The Lottie’s team.”

The break-in happened at Lottie’s Danville location at 145 E Prospect Ave, just off Hartz Avenue in the heart of downtown. The Danville shop is one of two East Bay locations for Lottie’s Creamery, a local, family-owned business known for small-batch, handcrafted flavors and housemade waffle cones.

This is the latest in a string of frightening burglaries targeting small, locally owned businesses around the 925.

In recent weeks, the Bay Area Telegraph has reported on a wave of “blitz style” burglaries, where crews rush in, smash their way through doors and windows, and ransack shops in a matter of minutes. Recent hits have included Lafayette’s Panache Cafe — where thieves smashed the front door and stole a safe while the owner hid inside — and other neighborhood favorites like Great Wall and candy shop Zoonie’s.

This is a fast breaking story. Make sure to join our free 925 News newsletter so we can keep you updated, and hopefully share the news as soon as Danville PD catches the perps!
