PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA – Tis the season for joy, presents…and conflict! In Pleasanton, California, a Christmas Eve argument apparently boiled over.
Then, guns came out. The result? One man critically injured and fighting for life in the trauma center on Christmas Day.
Pleasanton police say officers were called to the Civic Square Apartments complex around 1:51 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2025, after reports of a shooting.
When officers arrived, they say they found a 41-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his head and leg, according to police and local reporting. He was taken to a local trauma center (the specific hospital wasn’t shared yet.)
Investigators say the shooting appears to have followed an argument over loud music coming from a vehicle, though police emphasize the case is still active and details are limited.
As I write this today, not suspect has been identified and no arrests made. Although the details haven’t been shared, it sounds like the man might have confronted a person playing loud music from their car, causing an argument, drawn weapons, shots fired, and perhaps the person or persons driving away undetected.
Pleasanton police said they believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that there is no immediate risk to public safety. Anyone with information is asked to contact Pleasanton Police Department detectives at 925-931-5100.
