Lilikoi Boba just recently opened in Lafayette, California. It’s on Mount Diablo Boulevard, just across the street from the Lafayette Police station. The store sells boba tea, but there’s a twist–the boba tea here at Lilikoi Boba is Hawaiian-themed.
The word “lilikoi” means passionfruit in Hawaiian, and the island theme is carried through the restaurant’s design and menu. Some drinks use traditional Hawaiian items like ube (a deep purple-colored tubor) and the island staple POG, or Pineapple Orange Guava. If you’ve ever traveled to Hawaii, those kinds of flavors will feel very familiar.
That’s all well and good, but how’s the tea? I stopped by Lilikoi earlier this week. I’ll share a full review shortly, but here are my initial impressions.
The tea that I got was their thai tea. I got crystal boba in mine, and got full sugar and full ice, though you can customize this for a less sweet or less cold version of your drink.
You can check out Lilikoi Boba online, and place an order either at the store or via Doordash (I placed mine on Doordash and then picked it up at the store).
