Crab Cakes Recalled Due to Life-Threatening Allergy Risk
County Road Seafood, LLC., based in Belhaven, North Carolina, is recalling its County Road Seafood Crab Cake 2 Pack 4 Ounce package due to the presence of undeclared egg.
The recall, effective May 21, 2024, is a crucial safety measure to protect consumers with egg allergies or severe sensitivities.
Reason for Recall
The recall was initiated after the company was notified by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services on May 15, 2024, that the product labeling failed to list egg as an ingredient.
The crab cakes contain mayonnaise, which includes eggs, and whole eggs are also used as a binder.
Affected Products
The recall affects products distributed between August 26, 2022, and May 9, 2024. The products are vacuum-sealed in clear plastic and were sold to distributors and retail facilities in North Carolina and South Carolina. There are no UPC or lot codes for these products.

Health Risks
People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs are at risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the recalled crab cakes. As of the recall date, no illnesses have been reported.
