Inside the Quaint Bistro Where Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Dined in NorCal

You would think mega stars like Taylor Swift would always eat truffle-coated, caviar-encrusted lobster prepared by a private chef and served in some gigantic villa.

It turns out that stars are just like us; they want to eat at charming, local places when they travel.

Case in point: superstar Taylor Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, chose a quaint local bistro in Carmel, California, for a date night during their Northern California trip earlier this year.

Interior of the restaurant

I’ve been to the restaurant several times. It’s called La Bicyclette, and it’s located in downtown Carmel. It’s anything but bougie or pretentious.

La Bicyclette is a small local bistro that’s been around in various forms since the 1970s. It only has about 50 tables, giving it a quaint atmosphere. A giant pizza oven and a rack of hanging wine glasses anchor the space.

Naturally, there’s plenty of bicycle decor, too!

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce reportedly had to sneak in through the back door and sit by the bathroom to avoid being recognized.

When I visited with my family in 2021, I ate in that exact same spot, though for a completely different reason! I wasn’t an international superstar trying to hide from paparazzi; I was there with my three kids and the grandparents, and we needed a big table so we wouldn’t bother other diners.

During our visit, we had delicious dishes like gnocchi coated in melted cheese, Tuscan salad, a margarita pizza, a pepperoni pizza, and a nice hunk of salmon.

The atmosphere was low-key and pleasant. I can see why the megastars chose this spot—it’s an authentic little place worth visiting.

The total meal came to about $200. Yes, that’s upscale. But for 7 people, it’s hardly mega-billionaire territory.

According to SF Gate, Taylor Swift enjoyed the gnocchi during her visit. She also had the same pizzas we did!

I may not be a renowned pop star with billions of dollars, but it seems Taylor and I have very similar tastes in Mediterranean food!
