“Four Thumbs Up” Tanoshi Sushi in Walnut Creek Is Wowing Locals

A new Japanese restaurant, Tanoshi, has opened in Walnut Creek, and it’s already generating buzz among local residents. The restaurant is located at 2280 Oak Grove Road in the Citrus Shopping Center, taking over the space formerly occupied by Denica’s. It’s situated in the same plaza as BevMo and the new Club Studio Fitness, and is across from Panda Express.

Paul B. from Turtle Creek shared his recent experience, saying he and his wife tried Tanoshi for lunch and were impressed with the quality and freshness of the food. They ordered garlic edamame, a lunch combo featuring karaage (Japanese fried chicken) and saba (mackerel), and a few pieces of nigiri. Paul noted that both the karaage and the edamame were flavorful and well-prepared. He described the experience as “four thumbs up” and said they plan to return.

Other locals have also weighed in with positive reviews. Tracey C. from Paso Del Rio visited during the restaurant’s soft opening and highlighted the excellent service and food. She expressed her hope for the restaurant’s success and mentioned her intention to return. PJ K. from Homestead called Tanoshi a “fantastic and scrumptious Japanese restaurant” and praised the owner, Kate, and her team for their warm hospitality.

The restaurant’s location seems to be a key point of interest. Ron W. from Rancho San Miguel clarified that Tanoshi is in the Citrus Shopping Center, where the old Nob Hill Foods used to be. Ed W. from Woodlands added that it’s next to Panda Express and directly across from BevMo.

For those unfamiliar with the area, Randy M. from Clayton Valley Highlands noted it is just off Oak Grove Road, a short distance from Ygnacio Valley Road.

Comments on social media indicate that Tanoshi has struck a chord with sushi enthusiasts in the area. Norene B. from Carriage Square expressed excitement about trying a new Japanese spot, while Jo S. from Woodside said she plans to visit soon after reading the positive reviews. Kathleen P. from Cambridge Park thanked fellow residents for the recommendation.
