SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA – Curry Up Now, a popular Indian street food restaurant at City Center Bishop Ranch in San Ramon, has us a bit confused.
When we last visited, the windows of the restaurant were papered over, and it was not open for business. Fearing that it had closed, we did a bit of digging. It turns out the restaurant is listed as “Temporarily Closed for Renovations,” according to City Center’s website.
It hasn’t been removed from the directory for the popular San Ramon shopping center, either. This usually happens pretty fast when a place there closes.
Yet, reporting from Beyond the Creek mentioned that there was a new restaurant–called Khaki–placing signage in the windows of the Curry Up Now location during the renovation.
We stopped by and verified that new signs for this Indian food “Canteen” restaurant are up in the windows.
So, again, we’re confused. What we know is that Curry Up Now isn’t currently open. But the restaurant is either rebranding to become Khaki, or is closing its San Ramon location with a new place coming in.
Curry Up Now serves tasty Indian street food–think boxes of rice dishes with yummy sauces as well as sandwiches and wraps on naan bread.
We’ll do more digging and see if we can get some answers. Make sure to join our free 925 News newsletter so we can keep you in the loop on this any all the food news in the 925.
