Vinnie’s Pizzeria – Pleasant Hill (Virginia Hills)

Rocco’s Ristorante & Pizzeria – Walnut Creek

Mike: “I have always enjoyed Rocco’s and went to Skipolini’s only when my daughter’s team was going there.”

Family-run since 1999, Rocco’s anchors the Encina Grande shopping center (2909 Ygnacio Valley Rd.) with live-sports TVs, a full bar and hefty thick-crust pies.

World-champion pizzaiolo Tony Gemignani’s outpost (1500 Mt. Diablo Blvd.) turns out New York, Detroit, Grandma and Sicilian slices plus local beer on tap.

  1. Just fyi. Rocco’s Pizza is at Encina not Ygnacio Plaza. Don’t want people driving around aimlessly looking for it.

  2. Skip’s has many locations in CA, including Concord and Clayton so this story doesn’t make sense
