“Just Love and Support”–Brentwood Shave Ice Place Makes Last-Ditch Plea to Stay Alive
BRENTWOOD, Calif. — Local shave-ice shop Aloha Ice is celebrating its third anniversary this week with a community-minded twist aimed at keeping the small business alive.
After a difficult year, the owners announced on social media that instead of holding their usual birthday party, they will host a “Name Your Price Shave Ice” event on Thursday, June 19, from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Customers can pay whatever amount they choose for any shave-ice order.
“We don’t know how much longer we’ll be able to keep our doors open,” the post reads. “Bring your family and friends, come enjoy your favorite treat, and pay what you can. No pressure, just love and support.”
Aloha Ice opened its doors on June 17, 2022, serving Hawaiian-style shave ice and quickly becoming a fixture for families in east Contra Costa County. The shop is located at 6271 Lone Tree Way, Brentwood.
Thursday’s pay-what-you-can promotion is intended to draw customers and raise enough revenue to help the business weather rising costs and slower foot traffic. Regular business hours will resume after the event.
