WC Kitchen and Bar to Replace OPA in Downtown Walnut Creek

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – That was fast! Walnut Creek, California’s beloved OPA! Greek restaurant closed only a few months ago, and there’s already a new restaurant planning to come into the space.

According to social media posts, residents are seeing signs indicating that a new restaurant is coming soon to the space at 1532 North Main St.

Signs on the defunct storefront read “Coming Soon: WC Kitchen and Bar,” with a classy-looking script logo.

Previously, construction work had taken place on the sidewalks outside the downtown restaurant, hinting at the future arrival of a new owner.

Besides the sign on the door we know almost nothing about what WC Kitchen and Bar will be. Here at the Bay Area Telegraph, we looked into building permits, liquor licenses, and our other sources and have turned up nothing so far.

That likely means the arrival of WC Kitchen and Bar—whatever it will be—is still months in the future.

Still, it’s great to see turnover of the storefront happening so quickly. Before OPA!, the location had Café Delle Stelle, an Italian eatery. The building goes all the way back to the 1940s, when Walnut Creek was a much different town than it is today!
