30,000 People Expected at Danville 4th of July Parade to Mark 50th Anniversary

DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA – Danville’s annual Independence Day parade returns on Friday, July 4, with the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley celebrating its 50th year of organizing the event.

The free parade will run from 9:00 a.m. to noon along Hartz Avenue and San Ramon Valley Boulevard. This year’s theme is “Celebrating 50 Years of Community Service,” commemorating five decades of the Kiwanis Club’s leadership in Danville’s July 4 festivities.

Contra Costa and Solano County Food Bank, itself marking 50 years, has been named Grand Marshal of the parade. (We had a very popular story about them last year.)

More than 100 groups will march or perform, including over a dozen local school and community bands. Organizers expect roughly 30,000 spectators along the route.

Street closures will begin early on July 4, and spectators may place folding chairs on the sidewalks after 6:00 p.m. on July 3. (Chairs and personal items left unattended before that time may be removed.) Attendees are encouraged to walk or park farther away, as municipal lots will be available around town.
