WALNUT CREEK — An estimated 7,800 people gathered in and around Broadway Plaza on Saturday, October 18, to participate in the second nationwide “No Kings” day of action, according to event organizers.

The Walnut Creek event ran from about 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and was part of a coordinated series of protests across the Bay Area and the country.
Indivisible ReSisters Contra Costa organized the Walnut Creek gathering, which included speeches, live music, sign-making activities, and a honk-and-wave along streets surrounding Broadway Plaza.
Organizers said the demonstration was held to defend democratic norms and oppose what they describe as abuses of executive power.
U.S. Rep. Mark DeSaulnier, D-Concord, addressed attendees in Walnut Creek, part of broader Bay Area participation that also included large turnouts in San Francisco and Oakland. Public posts from DeSaulnier acknowledged the day of action and encouraged civic participation. Region-wide, local outlets reported sizable crowds at multiple locations as part of the national effort.
Saturday’s Walnut Creek event followed a similar rally in June that drew thousands downtown, and it coincided with numerous Bay Area listings for “No Kings” actions published ahead of the weekend. As with many of the day’s demonstrations, organizers characterized the Walnut Creek event as peaceful and family-friendly.
