Rossmoor Restaurant Closing — Creekside Grill to Shut Down for Renovations, New Operator Named

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – The only restaurant inside of Rossmoor, the Creekside Grill, is going through some major changes.

Residents reported to the Bay Area Telegraph that the restaurant was slated to close in 2026. An article from Rossmoor itself confirms this.

There’s good news and, well, new news about the closure. Firstly, it’s temporary.

Rossmoor’s board previously approved up to $625,000 in spending for “tenant improvements” at Creekside, with potential upgrades including bar and kitchen equipment, dining room furniture, design services, and contingencies.

Those renovations and updates will happen during the closure, which is expected to last several weeks.

When the restaurant comes back, though, it won’t be the same spot–it will be something new. Longtime operator Stan Gedeon (who has run Creekside since 2010) is expected to depart, with restaurateur Rodney Worth slated to take over after the refresh is complete.

According to Rossmoor’s announcement, “Worth already operates several area restaurants, including The Little Pear in Walnut Creek, the Peasant’s Courtyard in Alamo, the Peasant & The Pear in Danville and the Bourbon Pear in Livermore; he’s also the executive chef.”

Those are solid local places. Rossmoor will likely be well served by the new spot.

Still, change is hard–especially after 15 years with one operator. Rossmoor itself acknowledges that “change is difficult.”

Hopefully, though, the change will ultimately prove to be positive. Although Rossmoor is saying goodbye to one iteration of the Creekside Grill, the new operator has a serious local pedigree. And more than half a million dollars of upgrades should prove helpful, too!

We’ll let you know when the new version of Creekside Grill opens. Since we can’t actually report from inside Rossmoor, if you happen to live there, please send tips and your thoughts to tom@bayareatelegraph.com
