New Store Selling $1,200+ Office Chairs Just Opened at Broadway Plaza

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – Remember the optimistic days, tech-heavy days of the 1990s? When the VC money flowed freely to all manner of startups, and the Dot Com crash wasn’t even on the horizon?

Back in those days, the moment your startup got funded, you immediately invested in one incredible (and incredibly expensive) chair for every engineer on your team: the Herman Miller Aeron.

Well, guess what? The halcyon days of the 90s may be gone. But the Aeron is still the world’s best office chair (I’m sitting one one right now). It’s still blindingly expensive.

And now, you can buy one here in Walnut Creek.

Herman Miller — the iconic modern-design brand behind the Aeron and Embody — has opened a dedicated showroom at Walnut Creek’s Broadway Plaza, bringing a fleet of $1,200+ ergonomic chairs and design-forward desks to town.

Where to find it, and what they sell

The new Herman Miller showroom is at 1245 Broadway Plaza, with posted hours most days from 10 am to 8 pm and 11 am to 6 pm on Sundays. Staff can book personal shopping appointments and demo chairs on site.

Take it for a “test sit”, if you will.

On the floor, expect the brand’s top sellers: Aeron and Embody task chairs that commonly retail north of $1,200, along with gaming versions and accessories. (During launch week, several models were listed around $1,400–$2,000 before discounts on the official site.)

Why this matters for Broadway Plaza

Herman Miller’s opening is part of a broader refresh at Broadway Plaza, which the City of Walnut Creek flagged earlier this year alongside brands like Rivian and Original Joe’s. For shoppers, that means more design and home-upgrade options within walking distance of dining on Locust and the new Original Joe’s.

Deals to know

Broadway Plaza’s directory has highlighted Herman Miller promotions around opening, including limited-time chair discounts — worth checking if you’ve been eyeing an Aeron or Embody. Always confirm details in store.

Again, I have one and I’ve used it for hours every day, for a decade, and it’s still amazing.

If you go

  • Address: 1245 Broadway Plaza, Walnut Creek
  • Parking: Garages off South Main and Broadway often fill on weekends — arrive a little early if you want to sit-test multiple models.
  • Pro tip: Ask staff to size you for Aeron (A/B/C) or to demo lumbar/posture options on Embody so you can feel the differences before you buy. (Those options are part of why prices soar past $1,200.)
