Review: I Tried Authentic Yemeni Drinks at Dublin’s New Coffee Location

Delah Coffee is a Bay Area coffee shop specializing in Yemeni coffee and a Middle-Eastern menu. It has multiple locations, including San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley and the newly opened Dublin cafe. Each location serves authentic drinks and pastries. I recently visited the Dublin location to try some of their signature menu items.

Delah’s menu focuses on sustainably sourced, hand-picked, micro-roasted coffee. Signature drinks highlight Yemeni flavors, like the Yemeni Tea and the spiced Adeni chai, an aromatic black tea boiled with cream and spices.

They also offer typical coffee options, iced drinks, and smoothies. Customers can even personalize these drinks with add-ons like caramel, pistachio, and chocolate drizzles, or add extra espresso shots for an additional cost.

In addition, Delah serves a variety of desserts, including multiple types of Turkish Delights, cheesecakes, and milk-soaked sponge cakes, all made to complement their drinks.

On my visit, I ordered the pistachio latte, Adeni chai, and Dubai chocolate cheesecake. The pistachio latte was visually stunning, served in a glass lined with pistachio cream inside. The flavor was unique, a bit on the sweeter side, but I really liked it. At $7.85, it was a pretty typical price for specialty coffee.

The Adeni chai came in a large mug, hot and steaming, with the option to customize the sugar level. Even without sugar, the spices came through beautifully, and the aroma was amazing.

However, my favorite was the Dubai chocolate cheesecake. Despite being slightly pricey at $8.25 for a slice, it was gorgeous and tasted even better — creamy, rich and not overly sweet.

Drinks come in two sizes, 12 oz or 16 oz, making it easy to grab a quick cup to go or savor it in their coffee house. They even offer chai to share, served in a teapot, for around $18-36, depending on size. The drinks came on a colorful tray, and desserts were served on intricate silver plates.

The Dublin location has a cozy, stylish interior with white and gold decor, comfortable sofas, mini candles on each table, and beautiful surrounding art pieces. They play soft Arabic music in the background, adding to the warm atmosphere.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Hours run from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays, and until midnight on weekends.

Delah Coffee offers a rewards program as well, where loyal customers can earn points toward free drinks and desserts. This adds a nice incentive for regular visits.

Overall, Delah Coffee delivers unique, flavorful coffee and a memorable experience, something you wouldn’t find at your local Starbucks. For anyone in the Bay Area looking to try something new or explore specialty coffee beyond the usual chains, Delah is worth a visit.
