Walnut Creek Has a Brand New Store, and Everything In it Is Old

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – There’s a brand new store in Walnut Creek, California. But everything inside is already at least a few decades old.

That’s by design. The new entrant to Downtown Walnut Creek’s shopping scene is centered around the appeal of items that are just a tad more timeless than what you’d find in stores today.

The new place is Eden Vintage.

The shop is located at 1341 N. Main Street in the Duncan Arcade area (the little connector that goes from Main Street near Brandy Melville back to the parking lot), placing it right in the heart of Walnut Creek’s Main Street retail core.

Eden Vintage is a curated vintage collective focused on clothing and jewelry from the Y2k era, 1990s and earlier. The store also sells “handmade and small brand goods.”

Eden Vintage says it hand-selects pieces “with intention,” aiming for a mix of nostalgic style and “contemporary relevance.” Alongside clothing, the store also carries small-batch goods that fit an “earthy, dreamy aesthetic.”

The brand strong emphasizes sustainability, positioning vintage and preloved garments as an alternative to fast fashion.

Vintage stores–which focus on newer eras than traditional antique shops–are on the rise in the 925. Vintage Vida is doing great in Lafayette, and Anastasia (a local vintage clothing chain) now has a huge shop in Pleasant Hill.

Again, Eden says it includes “Y2K” items. As someone who lived through the Y2K scare, it’s funny to see that piece of my childhood called out as a specific era!

Eden seems to be focused mostly on clothes, where Vintage Vida includes more home items–like vintage BART signs or even cassette tapes.
