PLEASANTON, CA — The far East Bay is one of the safest places in California to live. Danville just won the safest city in the state, and crime in quiet places like Dublin and Pleasanton is comparatively rare.
That makes a violent crime, like one reported yesterday, all the more shocking.
Pleasanton police are investigating a double homicide after two people were found shot to death inside a home Wednesday morning, Feb. 18, in a neighborhood near Ken Mercer Sports Park.
Police said officers were dispatched around 10:05 a.m. to the 3100 block of Joanne Circle after reports of gunshots coming from inside a residence. When officers entered the home, they found two adults with multiple gunshot wounds, and both were pronounced dead at the scene by Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department medics, according to authorities.
Police have not released the victims’ identities while next of kin are being notified. Local reporting, citing police information, said the victims were a 67-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son.
Investigators said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no immediate threat to the community, but the investigation remains active.
Although there’s nothing specific to confirm this yet, the isolated nature and the specifics of the victims suggest a domestic or family dispute.
As of Wednesday afternoon, police said no arrests had been made and no suspect information was available.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pleasanton Police Department at (925) 931-5100.
