Thieves Walk Off With $10,000 in Perfume in Concord, Police Say

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – Maybe they just really wanted to smell good?

A group of thieves rushed the women’s fragrance section inside the Macy’s at Sunvalley Mall last week (Friday, February 13) and stole at least $10,000 worth of high-end perfumes, Concord police said.

According to witness video shared with KTVU, multiple suspects ran to the fragrance displays shortly after noon, grabbed boxed fragrances, and quickly fled the store. Police said the stolen merchandise included luxury brands such as Dior, Chanel, and Carolina Herrera.

There hasn’t been a report from Concord police directly about the alleged crime or any updates so far, but we’ll keep following it. Make sure to join our free 925 News newsletter so we can keep you posted as we learn more.

This theft took place over the busy President’s Day weekend. There were apparently security guards present, but in most cases, their job is just to report these kinds of things to police.

We joke about stealing fragrances. But in reality, they’re likely a lucrative thing for thieves to sell, which is what drives this kind of theft.

Previously, we’re reported on thieves stealing thousands of dollars worth of Legos for the same reason–they’re lucrative to unload on the black market!
