WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA–One of Walnut Creek’s best-known longtime sports bars is officially getting a new address — and the move looks like a major shift for the business.
It’s a much smaller space than the original. But the location is top notch, taking this favorite local bar right to the heart of downtown.

Masses Sports Bar & Grill, which has been a Walnut Creek fixture since 1994, has announced that its new home will be 1411 Locust St. in downtown Walnut Creek, after leaving its longtime North Main Street location.
The bar shared the news on social media, calling the Locust Street site its “next chapter” and confirming there is still work to do before reopening.
After 31 years on North Main, Masses is headed downtown
For years, Masses operated at 2721 N. Main St., where its own website described it as a large, family-friendly sports bar with 25 beers on tap, 40-plus TVs, 10 pool tables, bocce ball, shuffleboard, special events and more.
That North Main run came to an end earlier this year. In March, Patch reported that the site that included Masses had been approved for redevelopment as part of a new Porsche dealership project, and said the sports bar had closed Feb. 8 after three decades to make way for development.

The new spot appears to be a very different kind of space
The new address, 1411 Locust St., sits in the heart of downtown Walnut Creek, and Masses has promoted it as being across from Sauced BBQ.

It’s been vacant for a while, and looks to be smaller than the old space. Public real estate marketing for 1411 Locust has described the property as a 3,522-square-foot second-generation restaurant space.
That is notable because the old Masses location was built around being a sprawling sports-bar hangout with game tables and lots of entertainment features. Based on the old venue’s amenity list and the smaller downtown footprint now associated with 1411 Locust, this appears likely to be a much more compact, more downtown-oriented version of Masses — though the business has not yet publicly laid out the full final format.
City records tied to 1411 Locust St. show it was previously home to Dia Y Noche Restaurant, whose administrative use permit was revoked by Walnut Creek’s Planning Commission in late 2024.
At this point, Masses has announced the new address, but it does not appear to have publicly announced an opening date yet.
