PLEASANTON, CALIFORNIA – Located directly across the street from Stoneridge Mall is a hidden artisan bakery and roastery inside the neighboring office park.
The Stroll Cafe & Bakery is situated at 5776 Stoneridge Mall Rd. in the center of the Atrium building. This woman-owned business specializes in fresh-baked sourdough bread, handmade sandwiches, and a variety of specialty coffee drinks.
The menu features a high-quality selection of fresh pastries and handcrafted beverages. Bakery offerings range from almond croissants and Swedish cream buns to matcha white chocolate cookies.
They also serve hearty sandwiches like ham and gruyere, prosciutto, and mozzarella pesto, all made with their signature house-baked sourdough. The drink menu includes a variety of unique espresso-based options, like the Dubai chocolate latte, blueberry matcha, and Spanish latte. Prices are typical for a specialty artisan cafe, ranging from $3 to $16.
I ordered the Iced Dubai Chocolate Latte, which was about $6.50. It had a strong coffee flavor and wasn’t as sweet as I expected. It was well-presented with pistachio cream spread along the side of the cup and a chocolate drizzle at the bottom.
I also tried some of the pastries. The almond croissant had a really nice buttery taste with a soft almond filling that wasn’t overly sweet. The chocolate croissant was equally good, with a generous amount of chocolate inside and a light dusting of powdered sugar. Both were enjoyable, but the texture was a bit more bready than flaky.
Because the cafe is not immediately visible from the street, it can be easy to miss.
To find it, enter the main lobby of the 5776 office building and follow the hall to the ground-floor indoor atrium. The store is located right next to the central fountain.
There is plenty of seating both inside the store and throughout the atrium. The lack of background noise makes it ideal for a quiet meeting or work session. If you’re looking to escape the typical coffee shop noise and work among greenery, this is the place.
The cafe roasts its own beans and bakes its bread on-site daily. Hours run from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Monday through Friday, and it is closed on weekends. While these limited hours can make it difficult for some to visit, the owners have mentioned on social media that they plan to expand their hours and open on weekends soon to reach more customers.
