CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – Concord coffee drinkers will soon have another place to order a Mint Mojito.
Philz Coffee is preparing to open a brand-new location at the Willows Shopping Center, bringing the popular Bay Area coffee chain to one of Concord’s busiest retail districts.
The new cafe will be located at 1975 Diamond Boulevard, Suite C108, near Interstate 680 and directly across from The Veranda shopping center.
Philz has now added the Concord store to its official website, where it is listed as “coming soon.” The company has not announced an opening date, and the location’s operating hours are still shown as closed seven days a week.

However, there are signs that the opening may be getting closer.
Philz is currently advertising for baristas at the Willows Concord location. The company previously sought a general manager for the store, suggesting that it is assembling the team needed to begin serving customers.
The Announcement Caught Some Concord Residents by Surprise
Plans for the new Philz have been circulating quietly since 2025, but many residents appear to be learning about the store only now.
In an online discussion, one local simply wrote “I’ll be darned!” when announcing the arrival. In other discussions, locals talked about how it seems every new restaurant opening locally is a coffee shop.

The surprise is understandable.
Philz already operates locations in several nearby communities, including Walnut Creek, Lafayette and San Ramon. It also opened a drive-thru location in Pleasanton in November 2025. Concord, despite being the largest city in Contra Costa County, had remained a noticeable gap in the chain’s East Bay footprint.

Philz Will Join a Major Makeover at the Willows
The coffee shop is part of a broader redevelopment underway at the Willows Shopping Center.
Property owner Regency Centers lists Philz as occupying a roughly 1,800-square-foot storefront in Suite C108. The new cafe will be grouped with several incoming food and beverage businesses, including Mendocino Farms, California Fish Grill and Cold Stone Creamery.
The lineup represents a major transformation for a section of the shopping center between Eureka! and the former UFC Gym space.
The Willows already includes a sizable mix of national restaurants and retailers, including REI, Old Navy, Ulta Beauty, Five Below, Benihana, Krispy Kreme, Lazy Dog, Panera Bread, Daiso and Half Price Books.

Philz, Mendocino Farms and California Fish Grill should make the center an even more significant dining destination — particularly when combined with the restaurants directly across Diamond Boulevard at The Veranda.
When Will the Concord Philz Open?
Philz has not released a firm opening date for the Willows location.
The official store page currently says only that the cafe is “coming soon.” Active hiring is a promising sign, but construction, inspections and employee training could still affect the timeline.
Until Philz announces a grand opening, Concord residents may want to keep watching the storefront at Suite C108 — and start deciding how sweet and creamy they want their first drink (hint: creamy cream and sweet sugar is the only right answer.)
