We Officially Have an Opening Date for Concord’s New Philz Coffee

CONCORD, CALIFORNIA – Concord coffee drinkers no longer have to wonder when the city’s first Philz Coffee will begin serving customers.

Philz Coffee has confirmed in a message to the Bay Area Telegraph that its new location at the Willows Shopping Center will hold its grand opening on Wednesday, August 26. The cafe will open at 5:30 a.m. that morning and remain open until 4 p.m.

Before the official debut, Philz plans two days of limited soft-opening hours:

  • Monday, August 24: 8 a.m. to noon
  • Tuesday, August 25: 8 a.m. to noon

The new cafe is located at 1975 Diamond Boulevard, Suite C108, near Interstate 680 and directly across from The Veranda shopping center.

Concord’s Long Wait for Philz Is Almost Over

The opening represents a long-awaited arrival for Concord, which Philz says it has been considering for years.

Despite being the largest city in Contra Costa County, Concord has remained a noticeable gap in the company’s East Bay footprint. Philz already operates nearby cafes in Walnut Creek, Lafayette and San Ramon, along with a drive-thru location that opened in Pleasanton in 2025.

The Willows Concord cafe will become Philz Coffee’s 84th location and its first in Concord.

Once the opening celebrations are over, the store’s regular hours will be 5:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

Inside the New Concord Cafe

The approximately 1,800-square-foot cafe will include seating for 29 customers.

One of its most distinctive features will be a custom mural created by Oakland-based painter, illustrator and muralist Alexandra Bowman.

Bowman’s design translates Philz’s “One Cup at a Time” philosophy into a hand-illustrated neighborhood scene. It depicts people gathering, playing music and sharing coffee, using a palette of orange, mustard and sage.

Philz Is Arriving With a New Fall Menu

Customers visiting the Concord location around its opening will also be able to try Philz’s seasonal fall offerings.

The limited-time drink lineup includes Butter Pecan Cold Brew and Apple Cinnamon Roll Cold Brew. Northern California stores will also carry two regional pastries: a Pecan Pie Kouign Amann and a Cinnamon Maple Morning Bun.

Those will join the company’s regular selection of customized coffee blends, each prepared individually using Philz’s signature pour-over method.

Philz has not announced any Concord-specific giveaways or other grand-opening promotions.

Part of a Much Bigger Willows Makeover

The arrival of Philz is one piece of a broader transformation taking place at the Willows Shopping Center.

Property owner Regency Centers lists Philz alongside a group of new and incoming food businesses in the remodeled section near Eureka. The lineup includes Mendocino Farms, California Fish Grill, Cold Stone Creamery and Boba Bliss.

The additions are turning that portion of the Willows into a concentrated dining destination, particularly when combined with the restaurants located across Diamond Boulevard at The Veranda.

For now, the official Philz store page continues to label the Concord cafe as “coming soon.” But the uncertainty surrounding its debut is finally over: Concord’s first Philz Coffee officially opens Wednesday, August 26.
