A New Floral and Antiques Boutique Just Opened in Downtown Danville

DANVILLE, CALIFORNIA – Downtown Danville has a new place to shop for fresh flowers, one-of-a-kind antiques and gifts with a distinctly European feel.

Le Jardinet opened August 5 at 100 Hartz Avenue, near the northern end of downtown. The boutique combines fresh floral design with a rotating collection of French antiques — two interests that owner Rikki Roden says have been years in the making.

“I’ve always had a passion for collecting antiques and a knack for arranging flowers,” Roden wrote while introducing the new shop.

The result is not quite a conventional florist and not quite a traditional antique store. Shoppers can stop in for fresh bouquets while browsing collected decorative pieces, vintage vessels and other objects for the home. The combination also creates opportunities to pair new floral arrangements with containers that have considerably more history.

Roden described Le Jardinet as a dream that had been growing for years. In the months before opening, the owner said the Hartz Avenue space was being renovated and prepared to become something unique for Danville.

Fresh flowers and antiques are currently available Wednesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Because the shop’s antique inventory is collected rather than mass-produced, the selection is expected to change as pieces are sold and new finds arrive.

In addition to its walk-in bouquets and antiques, Le Jardinet offers custom arrangements and flowers for events. The Danville Area Chamber of Commerce says shoppers will also find seasonal merchandise and gifts at the boutique.

The Chamber will formally welcome the business with a ribbon-cutting celebration on Wednesday, August 19, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Visitors will be able to meet the owner, tour the shop and see its floral and antique collections. There is no charge to attend.

Le Jardinet is located at 100 Hartz Avenue in downtown Danville.
