WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – Walnut Creek families could soon have a big new destination for birthday parties, rainy afternoons, and getting your kids’ bounces out.
Sky Zone is coming to The Orchards shopping center, taking over the former Stein Mart space. And there’s a fresh sign of progress: Walnut Creek Spotlight reported on September 12 that construction is underway after months of “Coming Soon” signage. See the local update.
We at the Bay Area Telegraph also spoke to employees at a nearby store who confirmed that the trampoline park is on the way.
The plans describe a substantial indoor entertainment complex. City documents identify a 27,451-square-foot ground floor, plus a 5,294-square-foot mezzanine with party rooms and places to relax.
The project is listed at 2800 Ygnacio Valley Road, Building B, within The Orchards. For anyone who remembers shopping at Stein Mart there, the space is headed for a very different kind of use.
The Orchards also includes lots of restaurants, new fitness spaces, and a branch of One Medical.
Plans submitted to Walnut Creek include trampoline areas, dodgeball, an air court, a warrior course, a zip line, an arcade, and a designated toddler play area. Upstairs, the proposed mezzanine includes six party rooms and additional spectator seating. See the city’s project report.
That toddler area could be a particularly welcome feature for families juggling younger children and older siblings who want to jump and play.
Sky Zone’s own Walnut Creek webpage also offers a preview, listing attractions including Wipeout, Warped Wall, Sky Slam, basketball, Fusion Ultimate Dodgeball, and Boulder Balls. The final lineup will be something to check as opening approaches.

The proposed business plan calls for timed admission, with guests moving among attractions during their jump session. It also describes a concession area serving snacks, drinks, ice cream, and warmed pizzas.
Beyond general jumping and birthday parties, the proposal includes Little Leapers programming for younger children, camps, and sensory hours offering a quieter experience. Those are proposed offerings, so families should wait for the park’s actual schedule before making plans around a particular program. See the proposed operating plan.
The big remaining question is when the doors will open.
As of September 14, we couldn’t verify a firm grand opening date or local admission prices. Sky Zone continues to include Walnut Creek among its upcoming parks. Construction is an encouraging step, but families will need to wait a little longer before putting a first visit on the calendar.
