LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — The Starbucks at the corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Lafayette Circle is closing permanently on Friday, September 25, 2026, according to a notice posted inside the downtown cafe.
Multiple readers wrote in to tell us of the closure. Reader Lindsay S sent us a photo of the sign–thanks!
“Our coffeehouse is permanently closing 9/25/26,” the sign says. It thanks customers for their support and directs them to the Starbucks at 3343 Mt. Diablo Blvd., near Hampton Road. The notice does not give a reason for the closure.
The closing store is at 3547 Mt. Diablo Blvd., Suite A, in La Fiesta Square. It’s a prominent downtown corner for anyone meeting a friend or stopping for coffee.
The cafe had a brief interruption last year. Bay Area Telegraph reported that it was temporarily closed in October 2025. It later reopened, but the new notice says this closure is permanent.

It is not yet clear what will happen to the La Fiesta Square space or whether employees will be offered positions at other stores. Bay Area Telegraph will update this story if Starbucks provides more details.
We’re sad to see this specific location go. It’s nice to have a Starbucks right in Fiesta Square, and it was always fun to sit in the big window at the front of the store and watch cars appear to head right at you before turning onto Mount Diablo!
