LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA — A fire was reported at Rancho Cantina in Lafayette on Saturday morning, with images shared locally showing smoke appearing to rise from the restaurant’s roof.
A separate Rancho Cantina-branded notice says the Lafayette location is temporarily closed for renovations and hopes to welcome customers back in a few weeks.
The restaurant is located at 3616 Mt. Diablo Boulevard.

Smoke Above the Restaurant
In a local social media post, Julie T. shared a photograph and a video preview under the caption “Rancho Cantina Fire!” She said a friend who was nearby had captured the images.
The images show smoke above the building, with outdoor dining tables visible below.
Another commenter, Diana V., said she listened to the emergency response on PulsePoint that morning. According to her account, crews located a grease fire inside the exhaust ventilation system and found it quickly.
That description has not been independently confirmed by fire officials. Bay Area Telegraph reached out to Confire, but their information officer is likely not in the office for the weekend.
Restaurant Plans to Reopen

The closure notice offers a hopeful message for regular customers.
“Rancho Cantina Lafayette is temporarily closed for renovations,” it says. “We apologize for the inconvenience and can’t wait to serve you again soon in a few weeks.”
The notice does not explicitly mention the fire or provide a specific reopening date.
It directs customers to the restaurant’s Danville location, which remains open seven days a week at 501 Hartz Avenue.
Bay Area Telegraph previously reported on the Danville restaurant’s August soft opening, in the former Cocina Hermanas space.
For Lafayette regulars, everyone is hopeful that this is a short closure. We’ll keep you posted; join our free 925 News newsletter.
