Bankrupt Retail Chain Abruptly Closes Walnut Creek and Concord Stores
WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA – Leslie’s Pool Supplies has closed its Walnut Creek and Concord stores as the national pool and spa retailer enters bankruptcy.
Both locations’ pages on the company’s website now redirect to a closure notice telling customers to find another nearby Leslie’s store. The shutdowns leave local pool owners looking elsewhere for supplies, water testing and equipment help.
The affected stores were at 2246 Oak Grove Road in Walnut Creek and 5100 Clayton Road, Suite A21, in Concord, according to Leslie’s own location listings.
Stores Closed Just Before Bankruptcy
The local shutdowns come amid a rapid reduction in Leslie’s national store network.
In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Leslie’s disclosed that it closed approximately 76 U.S. stores on September 29. The company described those locations as underperforming or nonperforming and said it expected to vacate them within two weeks.
The following day, September 30, Leslie’s and its subsidiaries filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the Southern District of Texas.

The Phoenix-based retailer’s restructuring agreement aims to reduce its outstanding funded debt by approximately $685 million, or 90%. Leslie’s expects to emerge from bankruptcy in early 2027 under the majority ownership of a group of its existing lenders.
The company says it will continue evaluating its real estate portfolio during the bankruptcy process.
Lafayette and Pleasant Hill Remain Open

Two nearby Leslie’s locations remain available to customers: Lafayette at 3389 Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Pleasant Hill at 25 Vivian Drive. Both still have active store pages with posted operating hours on Leslie’s website.
For customers accustomed to visiting the Walnut Creek or Concord stores, those branches offer nearby alternatives within the same chain.
Leslie’s also says customers can continue shopping through its website and mobile app. Its customer information page says gift cards remain usable, returns and exchanges continue under existing policies, and Pool Perks rewards remain in place.
The company says services including free in-store water testing, equipment repair and in-field service will continue during the restructuring.
“Leslie’s is here to stay,” CEO Jason McDonell said in the company’s bankruptcy announcement. For Walnut Creek and Concord customers, however, the neighborhood stores are already gone.
