Iconic Walnut Creek Car Wash is Expanding

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA — Little Bear, the longtime car wash on Ygnacio Valley Road, appears to be adding another Walnut Creek location. And according to a local resident, the change comes with lower prices.

Walnut Creek Car Wash on North Main Street has a new owner and is now Little Bear Car Wash, according to a neighborhood post by Sandra B, which includes photos of a Little Bear sign at the location.

Walnut Creek Car Wash is located at 2965 North Main Street, next to Wendy’s. Its website says the business opened in 1993, giving the location more than three decades of history cleaning local cars.

The reported expansion follows a big makeover at Little Bear’s familiar location at 604 Ygnacio Valley Road.

Earlier this year, online listings suggesting that the Ygnacio Valley car wash had permanently closed caused concern among customers.

As Bay Area Telegraph reported, the closure was temporary and related to renovation work. By March, the property had a refreshed exterior, dark gray siding and updated Little Bear branding.

For a business whose Walnut Creek roots date back to 1969, it was a noticeable update. Now, the North Main Street report suggests another change for the familiar local name, with a second location.

The lower prices could be welcome news for drivers, although an updated price list has not yet been verified.

As of October 19, the Walnut Creek Car Wash website still displayed its existing branding and listed hand washes at $50 for standard cars and $55 for SUVs and larger trucks. Those online figures should not be treated as the new Little Bear rates. The site also advertised waxing and detailing services.
