Longtime San Ramon Restaurant Closes, But There’s Good News

SAN RAMON, CALIFORNIA – A longtime spot for Southern comfort food in San Ramon has closed. But its owners already have something new planned for the space.

Clementine’s, located at 18070 San Ramon Valley Boulevard, is being converted into Casa Mia Restaurant, a Mexican-American concept operating under the same ownership, according to Danville San Ramon. Renovations are underway.

For regulars, the change brings an end to a restaurant that opened in 2012 in a former Marie Callender’s building near Bollinger Canyon Road and Interstate 680. The current ownership group took over in early 2025, initially keeping the Cajun concept.

Clementine’s website highlights the kind of food that people knew the restaurant by: po’boys, buttermilk-marinated fried catfish, and Southern Louisiana and American comfort dishes. It also carries a message thanking the San Ramon community for its support and memories.

The new restaurant will take the menu in a different direction.

Casa Mia’s existing San Jose menu offers a sense of the brand’s approach, with chilaquiles in several sauces, huevos rancheros and birria alongside omelets, burgers and sandwiches. Breakfast options include churro French toast, chicken and waffles, and crab meat Benedict.

Those are offerings at the San Jose restaurant, however, rather than a confirmed menu for the upcoming San Ramon location.

The big remaining question is when diners can try it.

Danville San Ramon reported that the online ordering system linked to Clementine’s referenced November 5 as a reopening date. But an official debut date had not been announced in that report, so readers should treat November 5 as tentative.

For fans of Clementine’s, losing the familiar name and Cajun menu may be bittersweet. The encouraging news is that a replacement is already in the works, with the same ownership preparing to welcome diners back.
