Walnut Creek’s Legendary Sports Bar Has Moved To a Totally Different Location

WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA — If you’re heading to Masses to catch a game, you’ll need to change your destination. Heads up: the new one is very different!

The longtime Walnut Creek sports bar has moved from North Main Street into downtown. Masses Sports Bar & Grill’s new home at 1411 Locust St. is open, while marking the former location at 2721 North Main St. closed.

For a business that dates back to 1994, it’s a significant new chapter — and a very different setting for your next game and beer.

A new home downtown

So, where’s this new spot?

Masses has taken over the address previously occupied by Dia Y Noche.

Dia Y Noche was in a small but central building at 1411 Locust St. The building is in a fantastic place, but it nowhere near the scale of Masses’ cavernous former location outside of downtown.

The move also comes against the backdrop of major redevelopment plans for its old neighborhood.

A March 2026 city staff report describes a proposed three-level Porsche dealership at North Main Street and Second Avenue. The project site includes the former Masses building, with plans calling for demolition of the existing buildings to make way for vehicle sales and service facilities.

Familiar Vibes and Food

Although the location is quite different, the spirit of Masses appears to live on. At the new place, you’ll find tons of TVs, plenty of games to watch, and a casual atmosphere that’s increasingly rare in downtown WC. The business continues to describe itself as family friendly.

The posted food menu sticks firmly to sports-bar territory: wings, nachos, burgers, sandwiches and plenty of fried snacks.

Among the more substantial options are tri-tip tater tot nachos, listed at $17.50, and the $19 Confession Burger, which includes a fried egg, grilled onions, cheddar, bacon and an onion ring. The menu also lists an MSB cheeseburger for $15.50 and 10 buffalo wings for $15.

Those are posted menu prices, so check for updates when ordering, of course.

Where to find it

Masses lists the new location as open seven days a week, with a Sunday football breakfast menu served from 9 to 10:45 a.m. For current hours and information, visit the bar’s website or call 925-256-7665.

For people who might have been heading to Masses for decades, it’s a new spot, but a refreshing reminder that a long-time WC legend lives on.
