A Big Disney Musical Is Coming to the Tri-Valley, With a Special Sing-Along Performance

LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA – One of Disney’s biggest musicals is coming to the Tri-Valley, and for one special performance, the audience is invited to be part of the show.

Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical opens Friday, November 6, at the Bankhead Theater in downtown Livermore, with seven performances scheduled through November 15.

The production, presented by local youth theater organization CYT Tri-Valley, brings Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and the rest of the characters from the Disney hit to the stage.

But there’s an extra reason for families to consider attending.

On Saturday, November 14, at 10 a.m., the theater will host a special dress-up and sing-along performance, encouraging children and adults to wear their favorite Frozen costumes and join in with the musical’s familiar songs.

And there’s another twist: Rather than featuring just one of the production’s two casts, the sing-along will bring both casts together.

That means audiences will see multiple performers playing characters including Anna, Elsa and Olaf. Some cast members will even head into the audience to help lead the singing.

A Disney Favorite Comes to Life in Livermore

Frozen follows sisters Anna and Elsa, princesses of the fictional kingdom of Arendelle.

When Elsa’s magical ability to create ice and snow spirals out of control, she flees into the mountains, leaving her kingdom trapped in an endless winter.

Anna sets out to find her sister, teaming up with mountain man Kristoff, his reindeer Sven and a lovable snowman named Olaf.

The story became an international phenomenon after Disney released the animated movie in 2013, especially thanks to its signature song, “Let It Go.”

The Broadway adaptation brings that story to the stage with live actors, musical numbers and theatrical effects.

For this local production, CYT Tri-Valley has assembled 66 young performers between the ages of 4 and 18, divided into two groups called the Reindeer Cast and the Snowman Cast.

The groups take turns performing throughout the show’s two-weekend run.

Among the performers are sisters Carlee and Preslee Brazil. Carlee, 12, plays Young Elsa, while Preslee appears in the ensemble. The sisters grew up watching the Disney movie, making the opportunity to perform in its stage adaptation particularly meaningful for their family.

CYT Tri-Valley is a local youth theater organization offering theater productions and performing arts education, including drama, dance and voice classes.
