Say Goodbye to Larkey Market, Closing Permanently in Walnut Creek

Sad news for longtime residents of Walnut Creek, California–the Larkey Market and Deli is closing permanently.

The closure was announced on November 28, 2023 via a Facebook post.

The owners said that they are closing Larkey Market with a “heavy and grateful heart.”

The small market, located in an otherwise suburban area on the Northern end of Larkey Park in Walnut Creek, was a beloved local hangout. It was also a bit of an aberration, in a community that’s otherwise mostly homes.

No specific reasons were given for the closure.

Sources indicate to the Bay Area Telegraph that Larkey Market will be replaced by a new location of Rooted Coffee. Rooted Coffee may retain the market function of Larkey Market, while adding a more extensive coffee shop to the location.
