At long last, a fancy new breakfast place has finally opened in downtown Lafayette, California.
When restaurants put out a big sign saying that they’re opening in early spring, it often means that they’ll actually open in late fall! Especially in the Bay Area, anything requiring construction takes a long time.
That’s why here at the Bay Area Telegraph, we were very pleased to see that Lafayette’s newest and trendiest breakfast place actually opened on schedule.
This new place is located in the former digs of Patxis Pizza on Mount Diablo Blvd, in a prime location in downtown Lafayette. It’s in a shopping center that seemed to have fallen on hard times, with almost all of the stores closed.
This formerly quiet shopping center is now fully back! The trendy new breakfast place is the anchor, but several new stores have opened in the last few months as well.
Lines for this new place are already extending out the door and into the plaza!
This trendy new breakfast place is the Breakfast Club at Midtown.

They had a location in Pleasant Hill and also opened a new location in Walnut Creek across from Heather Farm Park earlier this year.
The local chain is clearly expanding very aggressively, as they also announced their Lafayette location towards the end of last year. Again, we were skeptical when they put up a sign in early 2024 saying that they would be open in a few months.

But here they are! The restaurant looks great. We got a chance to look inside, and it has a beautiful bar area with a giant machine squeezing fresh orange juice right as you walk in.
The rest of the restaurant is lively and very loud, with a farmhouse chic design. You’ll find lots of light, classy wood paneling on the walls, cut-out metal designs, and white marble.

You’ll also find a lot of people! Again, this place is lively and very busy. When we stopped by on a random weekday for lunch, there was a wait for tables and doors.
There’s also a lovely outdoor area on Mount Diablo Blvd. with tables, warmers, and lots of flowers. If you want a quieter setting, this is probably the best place to sit.
The Breakfast Club at Midtown is known for their pancakes, especially the red velvet pancakes. We just stopped by to take a look, but we will definitely be back to try the pancakes and other breakfast items.
The Breakfast Club at Midtown is clearly causing a stir, but several other stores have just come to the shopping center and seem to be doing well too. Vintage Vita is right across from the Breakfast Club and just opened earlier this year. They have tons of cool-looking vintage items you can check out.

There’s also a new nail salon in the shopping center. We just wish that Bel and Bunna’s Books could’ve held on long enough for the Breakfast Club to open. They would definitely have gotten lots of families with kids waiting for Breakfast Club tables and exploring the bookstore during the wait.
Have you tried the Breakfast Club? Let us know how it was in the comments or email tom@bayareatelegraph.com.
We will definitely be stopping by to do a full review of this new Lafayette restaurant and to share some great photos with you.
