Residents of Walnut Creek, CA, have recently discovered a small but charming “hidden” Farmer’s Market located just outside the main entrance of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center on Newell Avenue.
Operating every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the market offers a variety of fresh produce, baked goods, coffee, kettle corn, honey, and other locally sourced items.
The market appears on California’s official list of certified farmer’s markets.

Karen S. of Walnut Heights shared her experience on social media, stating, “We don’t normally have a reason to wander in past the main entrance, but we spotted the tents and went to check it out while on a walk.”
She described the market as smaller than the more well-known Sunday Market on Locust Street and the Shadelands Market but noted that it still had a good selection, including “some fruits; a little vegetables; coffee; kettle corn; some naan; honey; baked goods among other things.”
Julie W. from Buena Vista shared a unique memory, recalling, “I discovered this Farmer’s Market in 2017 when I had to stumble my way through it in active labor,” highlighting how long the market has been around, even if it’s been under the radar for many.
Though the market doesn’t seem to attract a large crowd, it’s becoming a beloved spot for those who find it. Jim S. from Saranap II mentioned, “Same Kaiser location has had one weekly for years. I believe it is on Thursdays,” indicating that the market might have a longer history, though Karen clarified, “This one I posted about is on Wednesdays.”
For those planning to visit, Karen suggested parking in the nearby garage, though many, like herself, prefer to walk from the surrounding neighborhoods. As the market slowly grows post-pandemic, it could become a regular midweek stop for locals looking for fresh, locally-sourced goods.
