A popular San Ramon, California taco place has suddenly closed. We loved stopping by one of San Ramon’s best taco spots at City Center Bishop Ranch, especially for their duck taco.

Sure, this place was wildly expensive, with tacos costing almost $20, but they had unique flavors, excellent guacamole, and a lovely outdoor seating area where we spent many pleasant summer evenings watching the sunset in San Ramon.
Sadly, this delicious yet pricey San Ramon taco spot has permanently closed—suddenly and unexpectedly. The same fate has reportedly befallen the chain’s other locations around the Bay Area.
The place in question is C Casa, which was located at Bishop Ranch and was one of our favorite restaurants in the San Ramon area.

Apparently, the chain had deeper issues. C Casa faced accusations of violating child labor laws in a manner the US Department of Labor called “reckless,” and failing to provide adequate support to a new mother who worked there.
It’s unclear whether these accusations were the direct cause of the closures. What is certain, however, is that C Casa is no more.
A message posted on the company’s website expressed gratitude and announced the closure.

For San Ramon’s food lovers—and for people like us who visit City Center all the time—there’s some good news. New restaurants like Alora are set to open soon at the popular San Ramon shopping center. If you’re willing to head just a bit north to Danville, you can find excellent spots like Hazy Barbecue and Tal’s Patisserie.
Additionally, there are plenty of new taco places popping up in the surrounding area. For example, Cholita Linda at Broadway Plaza offers a similar experience to C Casa but at a much lower price point. Of course, you can also find much cheaper (and likely more authentic) fare at many of the Bay Area’s roaming taco trucks.

I won’t miss C Casa. Rip off for what is considered basic street food all over Mexico. All this place did is repackage it to seem more upscale. Sorry but tortillas, beans, rice, meat and veggies can never be upscale because it’s not meant to be! It’s like repackaged hamburger and French fry meal. So many more authentic places at a much lower price point for dishes that actually satisfy your hunger and make you want to come back. Bye bye C Casa.
