Man Who Snuck Into Lafayette Schools, Stole Credit Cards Arrested, Police Say

LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – In early April, an unknown individual walked into two local Lafayette, California, schools. He moved from classroom to classroom, stealing multiple credit cards and other items, the Lafayette Police Department says.

The department says that following the crimes, they conducted a “thorough investigation” and were able to identify the suspect’s vehicle and the man. Digging deeper, they found a pattern of burglaries across seven other cities and counties in California.

Working with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office, Dublin PD, Vacaville PD, and more, they obtained warrants to arrest their suspect.

On Friday, April 25, all these police departments worked together to execute a series of search warrants at three different homes.

As a result, they apprehended their suspect: 34-year-old Christopher Britton of Fairfield (no, not the famous Canadian actor of the same name!), who was arrested and is being held in Marin County Jail.

The police say that during the execution of the warrants, they recovered “significant evidence and items believed to be linked to the ongoing investigations.”

By that, they likely mean that they found the credit cards and other items that had been allegedly stolen.

The investigation is ongoing. If you have any information, you can email it to 94549tip@gmail.com.

It’s great to see multiple law enforcement organizations in the Bay Area working together to bring alleged criminals to justice!
