A 49-year-old father of nine from Tracy, identified by family as Jason Elola, died after a confrontation that followed an alleged road-rage crash in Castro Valley on Saturday night, Nov. 8, 2025.
The incident happened near the Castro Valley BART area after two vehicles collided as they exited I-580, according to multiple reports and family accounts.
Investigators say a fight broke out between Elola and the other driver after the collision near Wilbeam and Norbridge. Elola’s wife told reporters their 5-month-old and 5-year-old daughters were in the car at the time. Elola later died at the hospital. A family vigil and memorial have since appeared along Wilbeam Avenue.

The California Highway Patrol and the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office say the suspected driver, 37-year-old Martin Davis Jr., was arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail. Authorities are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or the fight to come forward to aid the investigation.

Elola’s relatives remember him as a devoted dad and grandfather. They made this statement on a GoFundMe, which has raised $23,000 as of press time:
“On November 8th, our family experienced an unimaginable loss when our father, husband, brother, and friend Jason Elola passed away suddenly. Jason was the heart of our family—a kind, generous, and loving man who brought laughter and warmth wherever he went. He was a devoted husband to Gabrielle and a caring father to Maria, Angel, Jordan, Brendan, Liana, Josh, Aiden, Alissandra, and Aliyah. Jason was the friend and brother you could always count on, always ready to help anyone in need and put others before himself.
Now, Gabrielle and the children are facing the difficult reality of moving forward without him. The sudden loss has left them with the overwhelming burden of funeral expenses and the challenge of covering daily living costs in the months ahead. Jason was everything to everyone, and his absence is deeply felt by all who knew him.
We are in need of your support in any way possible. Jason’s family is in need of help for funeral expenses, rent, groceries, and other assistance they need. Anything helps in this time. Jason Elola is survived by his 9 kids, his wife, and his family.”
