Dramatic Bodycam Video Shows Daring Helicopter Rescue of Girl Injured On Mt Diablo

Earlier this month, the Contra Costa Sheriff and CalFire personnel responded to an unusual call. A girl had been riding her horse on Mount Diablo, and injured her leg.

The catch was that the injury happened on a remote trail. That meant getting the girl, aged 12, quick medical attention would be extremely challenging.

Instead of hiking up, first responders flew in. Here’s the video:

Dramatic bodycam footage shows them riding in on a helicopter, assessing the girl’s injuries, and then attaching her to a special harness and airlifting her to a waiting ambulance.

The view of her harness dangling high above the mountain is not great if you’re afraid of heights!

No word on her condition but it sounds like she got immediate medical care, thanks to our first responders.
