Need a Unique Gift? Local Artists Heading to WC This Weekend for a Pop-up Art Fair

If your holiday shopping list is looking a little too Amazon-heavy, downtown Walnut Creek has an easy fix this weekend. The Walnut Creek Downtown Pop-Up Art Fair is bringing Bay Area artists to Water Light Plaza on Locust Street, turning the plaza into a mini open-air gallery filled with handmade gifts.

A Downtown Plaza Turned Art Market

The pop-up fair runs Saturday and Sunday, November 22 and 23, from 11 am to 2 pm at Water Light Plaza, 1501 Locust St., the public space anchored by the shimmering “Water Light” sculpture.

The series is hosted by Walnut Creek Downtown, which has been leaning into small, outdoor events that give locals a reason to stroll downtown, grab lunch, and support independent makers at the same time. Organizers describe it as an easy, drop-in style event — swing through after brunch, browse a few booths, and you might walk away with a one-of-a-kind gift.

What You’ll Find There

According to Walnut Creek Downtown, the fair will showcase a mix of:

  • Paintings
  • Photography
  • Ceramics
  • Handmade jewelry
  • Textiles
  • Mixed-media pieces and specialty crafts

Social posts from participating artists show everything from hand-thrown mugs and holiday ornaments to original canvases, small prints, and statement jewelry. Several artists are planning live demos or live painting sessions, so the plaza should have a bit of a street-festival feel.

Because the artists are all local, this is also a chance to actually meet the person who made the thing you are gifting — and, in many cases, to ask for custom colors, sizes, or commissions.
