The Bay Area’s Best Pizza Place is Opening a New Branch in Livermore

LIVERMORE, CALIFORNIA – As an East Coast transplant, it took me a long time to find good pizza in the Bay Area.

Well, let me correct that to say: it took a long time to find good New York style pizza.

Fancy Roman or Napoli pies with thin crusts and fresh ingredients? There are plenty of great spots around the Bay Area to get those.

But if you’re looking for giant slices, glutinous crust, and just the right amount of grease running down your arm while you eat, that uniquely NY combo is hard to find.

There’s one places that does it perfectly, though. It’s the best NY pizza in the Bay Area. And now, they’re opening a new East Bay branch in Livermore.

The spot is Slice House. I go to the one in Walnut Creek as often as I can. And now Livermore gets to enjoy the treat of this fantastic pizza, too.

The company’s location page lists the Livermore shop as “Coming Soon!” at 1948 1st Street. Livermore Downtown Inc. is also listing the pizzeria as “coming soon” at the same address.

It’s a ground-floor retail space beneath the Legacy at Livermore.

The menu is likely to be quite similar to Walnut Creek’s smallish outpost.

So when’s it actually coming? As of now, there’s no firm grand opening date publicly posted on Slice House’s official location listing — it simply shows “Coming Soon!”

It sounds like “Early 2026” is the most likely timeframe. But that’s not super specific. We’ll have to wait to see more.

Slice House is known for selling multiple pizza styles in one place — including New York, Sicilian, Grandma, Detroit, and California-style pies — plus a broader lineup that can include calzones, strombolis, paninis, pastas, salads, and subs.

The concept is positioned as “fast casual” with limited seating, built around quick slices and takeout (with the quality cred of owner Tony Gemignani’s better-known full-service operations).

Livermore’s culinary scene has been growing a lot recently, mostly built around casual spots. Ululanis is a great one to try over by the Outlets.

And I just tried the brand new Meadowlark Dairy, which will be especially great over the Summer.

One Comment

  1. Whoever wrote this, slice house is not the best ny pizza out here. Unfortunately, no one rigjt now can duplicate ny pizza and I’ve been out here since ‘67 looking. Actually, Amicis and vinnies do a better rendition. I know its totally subjective, but just my opinion, especially since youre giving yours. Tony never puts enough sauce on his , always red in color but dry.
    Thanks.
