“Support and Connect”; Slow Hand BBQ Asks for Help After Devastating Fire

PLEASANT HILL, CALIFORNIA – When we reported on the terrible fire that destroyed Slow Hand BBQ’s Pleasant Hill, California location yesterday, we got two responses from readers.

The first was shock and sadness that the long-serving Pleasant Hill BBQ spot was gone. The second was a question of “How can I help?”

Now, in a post on social media–and the first message from the restaurant since the fire–Slow Hand is asking for the community’s support and patronage.

“We’re deeply saddened to share that Slow Hand’s Pleasant Hill location experienced a fire last night and will be closed for the foreseeable future while we assess, make repairs and recalibrate,” Slow Hand’s team wrote.

The restaurant also expressed happiness that no one was injured in the destructive blaze. “Our people are our everything, and the safety of our team/guests comes first,” Slow Hand wrote.

To keep the restaurant going despite this huge setback, though, Slow Hand also provided a concrete way to help.

“For those in our community who would like to support and connect, please come see us at our 2nd location, Slow Hand Martinez!!” the post said.

That location is at 601 Main Street in Martinez. It will be closed today (February 10) so the team can “take a beat.” But Slow Hand confirmed the Martinez spot will reopen for business tomorrow, the 11th.

So there you have it. If you saw the fire and are missing Slow Hand’s food–and you’d like a concrete way to help–stop by the Martinez spot for some ribs or pulled pork.

“We’re grateful for the outpouring of support from our community and appreciate everyone who has reached out during this time. We see you, we see your messages and your emails and your texts, and all the different shows of support. We feel you and it means everything,” the Slow Hand team shared.
