New Sushi Restaurant Is Open in Pleasant Hill, and There’s a Twist

PLEASANT HILL, CALIFORNIA – Pleasant Hill’s newest sushi restaurant is now open, and the twist is not just the sushi.

It is the all-you-can-eat setup.

Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill has opened at 2375 Contra Costa Blvd., Suite A, in Downtown Pleasant Hill, taking over the former Nama K-Street Food space near the movie theater.

We previously reported that the storefront was being converted into Mizu after an ABC public notice appeared on the door and Downtown Pleasant Hill materials listed the tenant as Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill.

Recent social media posts from Downtown Pleasant Hill and local food accounts now describe the restaurant as open, while food posts about the new location identify it as “Mizu Sushi AYCE” and list all-you-can-eat pricing tiers.

One recent post described three AYCE levels: Silver at $29.99, Gold at $39.99, and Diamond at $59.99, with kids pricing also mentioned. As with any soft-opening menu, diners should confirm current pricing directly before making a special trip.

A Different Kind of Sushi Opening

Pleasant Hill already has sushi options, but Mizu’s all-you-can-eat angle makes this opening a little different from a typical new neighborhood sushi bar.

Instead of simply ordering a roll, a bento box, or a few pieces of nigiri, diners appear to be able to choose from a tiered AYCE menu.

That could make Mizu especially appealing for groups, families, and sushi fans who want to try a wide range of rolls, appetizers, and nigiri without building a meal one item at a time.

Mizu is not a brand-new one-off concept. The restaurant’s official website says Mizu has been operating in Silicon Valley since 2008 and presents the brand as a sushi bar and grill with traditional nigiri, signature rolls, and a broader Japanese grill menu.

At its existing locations, Mizu says it serves kitchen items such as teriyaki, Korean BBQ, skewers, and other grilled dishes in addition to sushi. Its Mountain View page describes that restaurant as the company’s third Mizu Sushi Bar & Grill and second Bay Area location.

The opening also comes as Downtown Pleasant Hill is preparing for a broader wave of Japanese food activity. Osaka Marketplace, a large Japanese specialty grocery store and food-hall concept, is planned for the former Orchard Supply Hardware space at 155 Crescent Plaza.
