A Popular Women’s Clothing Store at Broadway Plaza Has Unfortunately Closed
WALNUT CREEK, CALIFORNIA — Another longtime Broadway Plaza retailer has closed its doors.
White House Black Market, the women’s clothing store known for polished dresses, workwear, tops, pants, jackets and accessories, has closed at Broadway Plaza in downtown Walnut Creek.
The closure is a sad one for shoppers who liked having the brand right in the middle of Walnut Creek’s main shopping district. White House Black Market had been part of Broadway Plaza for well over a decade.

The brand’s old Broadway Plaza listing is no longer active on the shopping center’s current directory, and the former store page now redirects back to Broadway Plaza’s main directory page. Beyond the Creek also directly confirmed the closure.
A familiar name for Broadway Plaza shoppers
White House Black Market has long occupied a particular lane in women’s fashion: dressy but accessible, polished but not wildly formal, and especially strong for work outfits, black-and-white staples, dresses, jackets and event-ready pieces.
That made it a natural fit for Broadway Plaza, which remains one of the East Bay’s most prominent open-air shopping centers. The center is still home to major names including Nordstrom, Macy’s, Apple and lululemon, along with restaurants and cafes such as True Food Kitchen, Boudin, Cholita Linda and Original Joe’s.
Still, losing a recognizable clothing store is always noticeable in downtown Walnut Creek.

Where shoppers can go now
White House Black Market is still operating other Bay Area and East Bay locations.
The brand’s official store locator lists a White House Black Market at Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton, with nearby stores also listed in Livermore and Brentwood.
No word yet on what comes next
As of now, there does not appear to be a publicly announced replacement for the White House Black Market space.
That is the next thing to watch.
Broadway Plaza has been successful at filling high-profile spaces in recent years, sometimes with surprising new concepts. So while the closure is disappointing, it would not be shocking to see another retailer, fashion brand, or lifestyle concept eventually take over the space.
