BREAKING: Acalanes High School Locked Down Over Potential Threat, All Clear

Update 1:59: All clear issued

LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – Acalanes High School in Lafayette was placed on lockdown Monday afternoon while police investigated a potential threat reportedly made through an anonymous automated phone call.

The Lafayette Police Department announced the lockdown in a Nixle alert issued at 12:59 p.m. on August 17.

“Officers are working a potential threat that was called into Acalanes High School by an anonymous automated call,” the department said. “The lockdown is a precaution.”

Police said officers were on the campus and drones were flying above the school as authorities worked to determine whether the reported threat was viable.

As of shortly after 1 p.m., police had not publicly disclosed what the caller allegedly threatened, whether investigators had identified a suspect or whether anything dangerous had been found. There was also no public report of injuries.

Acalanes High School is located at 1200 Pleasant Hill Road, near Highway 24. Police asked members of the public to avoid the area while the investigation continued.

“If you see anything unusual call 9-1-1,” the department said.

Authorities said additional updates would be distributed through Nixle. The school remained listed as locked down at the time of publication.

This is a developing story. Bay Area Telegraph will update this report when police or the Acalanes Union High School District release additional information.
