LAFAYETTE, CALIFORNIA – A familiar downtown Lafayette storefront is preparing for a decidedly more energetic second act.
BODYROK, a fast-growing fitness brand offering high-intensity, Pilates-inspired workouts, plans to open a new studio at 971 Moraga Road in fall 2026.
The address was previously home to Clocks, Etc., the wonderfully eclectic clock, gift and home decor store that closed its large retail location after 48 years in Lafayette. Its clock-repair business continues from a smaller space on Dewing Avenue.
Instead of shelves filled with ticking clocks, the La Fiesta Square storefront will soon be filled with reformer machines, peppy music and fitness customers working through 45-minute classes.
What Is BODYROK?
BODYROK describes its approach as “Pilates re-designed.”
Classes combine Pilates-inspired movements with full-body strength training performed on the company’s proprietary “reformer”. The aluminum machines incorporate adjustable springs, straps, a bungee and a jumpboard, allowing instructors to move participants through planks, lunges, jumps, pikes and resistance exercises.
The company positions the workout as a higher-energy alternative to traditional Pilates, pairing reformer movements with music and the atmosphere of a boutique group-fitness class. Classes are designed to be high-intensity but relatively low-impact.
The Lafayette location is also expected to have a restroom, water station, cubbies, grooming products, a retail area and access to the parking lot on the edge of Fiesta Square.

A Growing East Bay Fitness Brand
BODYROK was founded in San Francisco in 2012 and recently reached 100 studios. The company has developed a particularly large footprint across Northern California.
The Lafayette studio will be operated as part of BODYROK East Bay, which already has locations in communities including Alamo, Berkeley, Oakland and Rockridge. Another new studio is preparing to open at 1380 North California Boulevard in downtown Walnut Creek.
Erika and Will Whalen, the owners behind the East Bay operation, reportedly met through their involvement with BODYROK. They now operate more than a dozen locations across the Bay Area and Seattle.
The Lafayette Chamber of Commerce recently welcomed the Lafayette studio as a new member, identifying Erika Whalen as its representative.
BODYROK has not announced an exact opening date or posted Lafayette-specific membership prices. Its official studio page currently says only that the location will open in fall 2026.
